As much as delicate as it is for me to study something that I am not suffering of, I still decided to relate my project on the Deafness. I recorded videos from my iPhone's camera. Afterwards I released a mini film that represents the journey as a "typical student day" from morning to evening. Not such thing as a typical student day but this one brings out some of my time in between University and my halls of residence in London, plus travels and free time.

The video n°1 brings out the journey heard and felt by a person without hearing loss, the video n°2 is a simulation of a total hearing impairment, the sound is turned off and I added subtitles.

Our hearing is considered normal if our average hearing loss is between 0 and 20 decibels.

Deafness can be mild, moderate, severe or profound:

■ Mild hearing loss: average tone loss between 21 and 40 dB. Speech is perceived in a normal voice, it is hardly perceived low or distant voice. Most familiar sounds are perceived.

■ Average hearing loss: average tone loss between 41 and 70 dB. Speech is perceived if one raises the voice. The subject understands better by looking at the speaker's labial movements. There is an annoyance depending on the noise and the distance from the sound source.

■ Severe hearing loss: average tone loss between 71 and 90 dB. The speech is heard in a loud voice near the ear. Strong noises are perceived.

■ Profound hearing loss: average tone loss between 91 and 100 (first degree), between 101 and 110 dB (second degree) between 111 and 119 dB (third degree). No perception of speech. Only very severe noises are perceived. They are rarely identified.

■ Total hearing impairment or co-harm: the average loss is 120 dB. Nothing is perceived.
